So...it seems that many of us weren't quite ourselves the last few days. This one certainly was not. [He bows deeply] This one apologizes for his behavior. Please be assured that this one is no longer that person.

As for the young lady this one drew a sword on...this one cannot apologize enough. This one hopes you can find it in your heart to forgive him, though he understands if you cannot. That behavior was inexcusable. This one is so very, very sorry.

...Yes. You had the misfortune to run into a version of this one that was much younger than he is now, and in a much darker place.

You have this one's sincerest apologies. That was never meant to happen and will never happen again.

Why're you saying "this one"? Is that your name? Is that someone else's name? Are you apologizing for someone else? Are they your imaginary friend? I think you should've named them something more EXCITING, maybe with, like, rainbows in it!

I know I'm not the one who can apologize, but I know I don't judge you for that. That's just... the kind of thing that can happen here, with experiments. They can make us do things we're not proud of. [Aang didn't do something so violent - but he still was reverted to someone who ran from his problems and hid who he was.]

This one is grateful.

This one had heard a little about the experiments before, but actually experiencing one... [He sighs, unwilling to admit how frightened of what he had so easily reverted back to he had been.]

I know. It was the same for me when I first experienced one. It changed my entire life, and even if it still had some good things... I still wound hurting my friends' feelings by forgetting them, and I betrayed my culture without even knowing it. [He had believed her was a Robin and ate meat freely.] We're both unlucky to have our firsts be so bad. But at least... most of them aren't like that.

What are they like, if this one may ask?

Well... Sometimes they can still be scary, but a lot of the times experiments can just change the area around us instead of actually changing us. Like one time, everything here went... weird. Gravity was switching in different directions, sometimes doors could lead to completely different places, and trees were saying unkind things.

[That just sounds like what happens to a person after consuming incredible amounts of alcohol in a short period of time. Kenshin smiles in spite of himself, slightly amused by the description.]

And what were the trees saying?

You shouldn't carry such things around if you can't stop yourself from using them, though.

Lots of things. Some of them were just silly or funny. But other things were... weird and scary. It was a mix of personal secrets about us and lies.

I wouldn't worry about it too much, Swordsman-san. You will probably do it in the future, and perhaps worse. Most come to understand what it's like under Malnosso control in time, and forgiveness is vital if we don't want to lose our minds.

What's a dono? Is that like a chan? And it's nice to meet you, too, Kenshin!!!

That is not a very comforting thought.

It's true regardless. All who spend time here come to know it eventually. [or deny it. Or find other ways to cope.]

How very unusual. Is this the only time the trees have talked, or is this a regular occurrence?
